Re-Seasoning an Old Dutch Oven

An old Dutch Oven we got from our Uncle Gery

Getting ready to re-do this ole Dutch Oven

The Burning out process in our smoker... you could use a BBQ too

Bake pot in the smoker @ 400 - 500 degrees for 2 hours, then cool for 1 hour

Then oil it and heat back up for 1 hour

Now take a wire brush to the entire pot and lid inside and out.

After that the wash it in hot water and scrub it down with a nylon scrub brush, let it dry in the smoker  @ 200 degrees for 30 minutes.
Now put a thin coat of oil inside and out and put it back in the smoker @ 300 degrees for 1 hour, let it cool for 1 hour and put another thin coat of oil heat again @ 300 degrees for 1 hour.

Here is the finished Dutch Oven
