Trailhead Kitchen Dutch Oven Sweet Beans
Trailhead Kitchen Dutch Oven Sweet Beans
1 lb. Beans any choice, soak them overnight in cold water. Rinse beans and put into a 10” Dutch Oven with 10 cups of cold water, simmer 1 ½ - 2 hours till done, drain beans and rinse in cold water. Set aside and make the sauce in the same 10” Dutch Oven after you oil it.
Liquid ingredients
½ cup water
½ cup honey
½ cup BBQ sauce
½ cup molasses
¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
½ cup Ketchup
2 teaspoons liquid smoke
½ cup brown sugar
1 bell pepper diced
3 vine sweet mini peppers (red-yellow-gold) chopped
2 large cloves garlic minced
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon smoked paprika
Directions for Sauce
Put the liquid ingredients into a 10 “well oiled Dutch Oven with 10 coals around the bottom outside edge.
Add brown sugar and dissolve, and then add peppers, garlic, salt, pepper, smoked paprika.
Add beans after drained and rinsed in cold water, add 10 fresh coals underneath, then bring to a simmer and cook for 20 – 30 minutes.
