Made in a 10” Dutch Oven
1 cup sliced mushrooms
1 cup each diced:
red peppers
green peppers or onions
fresh tomatoes
½ cup grated carrots
3 cloves minced garlic
1 Tbls. vegetable oil
1 lb. hamburger
1 Tbls. tomato paste
1 can (16 oz) tomato sauce
1 ½ Tbls each:
balsamic vinegar
packed brown sugar
1 tsp. chili powder
6 buns
1.) In food processor, pulse mushrooms until finely chopped. In a 10” Dutch Oven with 12 coals underneath and 12 coals on top, cook mushrooms and next 5 ingredients in oil about 5 minutes stirring.
2.) Add hamburger to skillet Cook 8 minutes or until meat begins to brown, stirring often, then put into the Dutch Oven and stir in next 5 ingredients.
3.) Let simmer 5 -10 minutes or until sauce thickens. Season with salt and pepper, if desired. Serve meat mixture on buns and top with cheese of your choice.
